Shuwa food tour
Welcome to the Shuwa Food Tour, where you’ll experience the best of Omani cuisine and culture!
Your day will begin with an Omani breakfast “take away” of crepe bread with Oman’s chips and cheese, served with a warm cup of tea.
Next, we’ll make a photo stop at the beautiful Bahla fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its impressive mud brick fortifications and rich history.
From there, we’ll head to Jabal Shams, also known as the “Grand Canyon” of Oman. This stunning natural wonder features rugged mountain peaks and breathtaking views of the canyon below.
We’ll make a stop at a canyon view point to take in the panoramic views and snap some photos.
Next, we’ll visit an Omani house to see the traditional Omani meat shuwa being taken out of the pit. This is a favourite Omani recipe, where the meat is slow-cooked and marinated in a flavourful rub of spices, garlic and oil.
For lunch, we’ll enjoy a delicious meal of shuwa, a dish that showcases the diverse influences of Asian, African and European cuisines on Omani cuisine.
After lunch, we’ll visit an Omani sweet shop to try some of the famous Halwa, a rich and sweet dessert made with dates and nuts.
Finally, we’ll return to Muscat, where our tour will come to an end.
Throughout the day, you’ll be guided by an English speaking guide and travel in a private car that fits up to 4 guests. We’ll also provide welcome amenities of dates, coffee, wet wipes, water and snacks for your enjoyment.
Join us on the Shuwa Food Tour for a memorable and delicious experience of Omani culture and cuisine!
