Discover the highlights of Oman on a flexible 7-day self-drive journey combining Muscat, the Dimaniyat Islands, Nizwa, Oman's mountains, Wadi Bani Khalid, Wahiba Sands and the spectacular coastal landscapes of Wadi Shab.
This package is designed for travelers who prefer the freedom of exploring Oman independently. We arrange the rental car, accommodation and selected experiences, while you enjoy the flexibility to explore each destination at your own pace.

Day 1 – Arrival in Muscat | Car Collection & Hotel Check-In
- Arrival at Muscat International Airport.
- Meet and greet at the airport.
- Collect your self-drive rental car.
- Drive to your hotel in Muscat.
- Hotel check-in and rest after your journey.
- Free time to relax or explore the nearby area.
- Overnight in Muscat.
Day 2 – Muscat City Tour
- Visit the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and admire its beautiful architecture and gardens.
- Visit the Royal Opera House Muscat.
- Explore Mutrah Souq, one of Oman's traditional markets, with handicrafts, souvenirs, spices and local products.
- Visit Mutrah Fort and enjoy a walk along the Mutrah Corniche.
- Photo stop at Al Alam Palace, the ceremonial palace of the Sultan.
- Photo stops at Al Jalali and Al Mirani Forts.
- Optional traditional Omani lunch at Bait Al Luban or another local restaurant.
- Evening at leisure.
- Return to your hotel.
Day 3 – Dimaniyat Islands | Shared Snorkeling Boat Trip
- Enjoy a day on the sea with a shared boat trip to the beautiful Dimaniyat Islands Nature Reserve.
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Morning drive to the designated marina.
- Join the shared boat trip to the Dimaniyat Islands.
- Cruise towards the Dimaniyat Islands Nature Reserve.
- Enjoy snorkeling in the clear waters surrounding the islands.
- Explore coral reefs and observe marine life, including the possibility of seeing sea turtles.
- Enjoy time in the water and around the islands, depending on sea and weather conditions.
- Beach hopping is available seasonally, generally from November to April.
- Return to the marina in the afternoon.
- Drive back to Muscat.
- Evening at leisure.
Day 4 – Muscat → Nizwa | Nizwa & Oman Across Ages Museum
- Check out from your Muscat hotel.
- Drive towards Nizwa.
- Visit Nizwa Souq and explore its traditional market.
- Visit Nizwa Fort, one of Oman's most important historic landmarks.
- Explore the surrounding old town.
- Continue towards the Oman Across Ages Museum.
- Explore the museum and learn about Oman's history, heritage and development.
- Optional traditional Omani lunch.
- Optional golf-cart tour through the old village and traditional homes, subject to availability.
- Check in to your hotel in Nizwa.
- Evening at leisure.
Day 5 – Wadi Bani Khalid → Wahiba Sands Desert
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Check out and drive towards Wadi Bani Khalid.
- Enjoy time exploring the wadi and its natural freshwater pools.
- Time for swimming and relaxation.
- Continue towards Wahiba Sands.
- Optional visit to a traditional Bedouin house to experience authentic Omani desert life.
- Optional traditional lunch with a Bedouin family.
- Optional camel riding and Omani coffee experience.
- Optional desert activities such as dune bashing and quad biking.
- Continue to your desert camp.
- Check in to the desert camp.
- Enjoy the sunset over the dunes.
- Evening desert experience and traditional camp atmosphere.
- Dinner at the desert camp.
- Overnight in Wahiba Sands.
Day 6 – Wahiba Sands → Wadi Shab → Bimmah Sinkhole → Muscat
- Breakfast at the desert camp.
- Check out and begin the coastal journey.
- Drive towards Wadi Shab.
- Enjoy the approximately 30-minute walk through the spectacular canyon, depending on walking pace and conditions.
- Explore the surrounding scenery and natural pools.
- Swimming is possible depending on conditions and personal ability.
- Continue to Bimmah Sinkhole.
- Enjoy time for photography and sightseeing.
- Visit White Sand Beach along the coast, subject to access and conditions.
- Optional local lunch stop.
- Continue towards Muscat.
- Check in to your hotel.
- Relax and enjoy the evening.
Day 7 – Muscat | Departure
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Check out according to your flight timing.
- Drive to Muscat International Airport.
- Return the rental car according to the rental company's instructions.
- Airport check-in and departure from Oman.
Self-Drive Experience
This is a self-drive package designed for independent travelers. No guide or driver is included. Guests will drive the rental vehicle themselves and are responsible for following Oman's traffic regulations and rental-car terms and conditions.
Rental Car
The vehicle category will depend on the package selected and availability. A 4x4 vehicle may be recommended for certain routes, particularly when traveling through desert areas or mountain routes. The final vehicle and permitted routes are subject to the rental company's terms and conditions.
Flexible Itinerary
The itinerary is provided as a suggested travel plan. Guests are free to adjust their sightseeing and time spent at each destination according to their interests, weather conditions and available time.
